Eric Gilbert

Eric Gilbert

As president and founder of PSS, Eric Gilbert combines more than 25 years of experience in strategy consulting and management with a commitment to supporting senior executives across a wide range of industries. A former Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company, Mr. Gilbert is also the founding CEO of several companies, including multiple strategy-consulting businesses, a business-to-business technology firm, and a specialty pharma company.  In his two and a half decades of experience as a management consultant, Mr. Gilbert has helped companies manage their growth, evaluate & enhance organizational design, and complete a range of projects that involve data-driven market research, pricing strategies, competitive intelligence, product development/enhancement/launch and operational improvement initiatives. In recent years, much of his consulting practice has focused on helping clients work through product-market strategy, business model, and go-to-market challenges. In 2002, Mr. Gilbert established and has since grown Professional Service Solutions Inc. (“PSS”), a strategy consulting and advisory firm that offers clients customized solutions that incorporate relevant services. Mr. Gilbert holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA with Honors and Distinction from Stanford University. He has served on the Board of Directors for a VC-backed SaaS business serving healthcare/life science clients. He is an angel investor and an advisor to early stage ventures.

Filip Angelov

Filip Angelov

Filip Angelov is highly knowledgeable financial analyst with hands-on project experience in a range of industries. His expertise is in financial planning and analysis, buy/sell side financial due diligence, M&A, valuation of private and public companies, information memorandums and investor decks for capital raising purposes, financial strategy, and high detail financial modeling – financial plans, cash flows, and budgets. He started with Grant Thornton and during his career he has supported projects for private and public companies. His focus in the last two years has been in working with SMEs and startups from the food industry, where he has helped over 30 companies develop comprehensive financial strategic paths for growth. He holds a BA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Sheffield and has passed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level II exams.

Julian Bene

Julian Bene

Seasoned strategy and organization consultant with 30 years of experience in biotech / pharma, hospitals, higher education and other industries, evaluating businesses and products for investment / divestment and recommending process improvements. He has extensive experience evaluating businesses and products for investment, recommending product strategies, and supporting organizational learning and improvement.  Mr. Bene’s extensive work with one core client, a leading biotech company, has encompassed R&D, mostly in product strategy, Sales & Marketing, Government Affairs and Operations. Mr. Bene has also advised GE and a major electric utility on acquisitions and divestments. Earlier in his career, he worked as a regional strategy vice president for the hospital chain AMI (now Tenet). His consulting career began with 5 years at McKinsey. Prior to business school he worked for the British government and the French oil company, Total. Mr. Bene has an MBA from Harvard with Distinction and a BA in Economics and Politics from Oxford.

Healthcare industry expert with detailed technical knowledge regarding provider, payer and purchaser dynamics, payment/reimbursement models and supporting information technology solutions. Recent experience helping organizations assess healthcare reform implications, reimbursement models and payment mechanisms, performance improvement strategies, accountable care metrics, performance incentives for physician-hospital alignment, and strategic roadmaps. Analytical skills based on roles as author, commentator, editor and publisher of 80 works in professional journals such as: Health Affairs, Inquiry, Managed Care, Journal of Ambulatory Care Management, Healthcare Executive, Hospitals, Healthcare Informatics, Modern Healthcare, Physician Executive Journal, Trustee, Managed Care Quarterly and Accountable Care News. Terry Cater, R.Ph

Terry Cater, R.Ph

Terry Cater is an experienced pharmacy and healthcare consultant and a veteran of the pharmacy industry with deep knowledge of pharmacy operations, automation, marketing, and managed care contracting. A former Director of Pharmacy at Safeway and Save Mart, he was also a Vice President of Managed Care at McKesson Corporation and VP of National Accounts with Cardinal Health. At Cardinal, Mr. Cater was involved with the effort to help Pyxis leverage its experience in the hospital setting to expand into the retail pharmacy business. Over the past two decades, Mr. Cater has provided operational and strategic advice to pharmacy operators, pharmacy data companies, drug wholesalers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and pharmacy/healthcare technology companies. He is a frequent speaker at industry meetings. Mr. Cater holds an MBA from St. Mary’s College of California and a BS in Pharmacy from the University of the Pacific.

Erli Chen, Ph.D

Erli Chen, Ph.D

Dr. Erli Chen has held various senior positions in top institutions and organizations, including Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania. Through these positions, Dr. Chen has led the development of many cutting-edge projects in science and technology, such as the establishment of the Nanotechnology Facility at Harvard University and the Nanotechnology Development and Commercialization Group at the University of Pennsylvania. He was the founder of 5eTek that invented and developed the 5eBoard circuit board for STEM education, DY projects and electronics prototyping. Dr. Chen has a B.A. and M.S. degree in Physics from Peking University and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Carolyn Crosby is a Logo Designer with extensive experience helping companies develop
and refine their identity and achieve communication objectives through customized graphics and typography in their logo and branding. Earlier in her career, she served as a Production Manager for Middlesex Publications in North Brunswick, NJ, Production Manager for MoneyMailer in East Brunswick, NJ, and served as an Artist for AC&R Advertising in Manhattan, NY. She holds a Bachelors in Graphic Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Mike Dolan

Mike Dolan

Mike Dolan is an accomplished, hands-on data scientist, research executive, statistician, analytic programmer, and technologist with a solid record of achievement in many industries. He is an expert in using applicable statistical multivariate techniques, neural networks, optimization, and simulation methods. He has extensive experience applying data analytics skills to help companies achieve strategic and operational goals, including assessments of risk analysis, securities valuation, web analytics, market research, marketing analytics and targeting, supply chain optimization, demand forecasting, econometrics, litigation support, health economics, epidemiology, and clinical trials. Deep technical knowledge, including proficiency with SAS, SPSS, S+, Minitab, NeuralWare, Excel, and SQL sourcing virtually all database management systems. Earlier in his career, he served as Senior Vice President for the Database Marketing & Analytics Center of Excellence for GfK, as Vice President of Analytical Services & Consulting for Data Square and Customer Analytics, Inc., held management positions with Sapient, HealthPro, Health Data Institute and was an Assistant Professor at Northeastern University. He received an MBA and was ABD, Statistics & Operations Research at Union College and a BA from Siena College.

Dieter Eisinger, Ph.D

Dieter Eisinger, Ph.D

Accomplished international C-level executive performing multiple chief operating officer responsibilities with repeated success in business development, organizational start-up, post-merger integration and turn-around. Dr. Eisinger was also a consultant and partner with Bain & Company and CSC Index, advising companies in technology, business services and manufacturing industries on strategic, operational and supply chain topics. Most recently he was Interim-COO for a Private Equity owned manufacturing / services company. Before that Dr. Eisinger served as Chief of Procurement/CAO for the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Group and the European five-country exchange, Euronext. Earlier in his career, he led the transformation of CSC’s Financial Services Practice in the Tristate area by doubling its revenue within a year while establishing a solution oriented go-to-market strategy. He holds an MBA in Finance / International Business from New York University’s Stern School of Business and an MA and a Ph.D in Economics from Vienna University.

Stephen Forden

Stephen Forden

Stephen Forden is a medical device executive who specializes in developing, leading, and working within high performance based cultures. He brings more than 20 years of experience and a proven track record of success to his projects at PSS. He has successfully worked in a variety of contexts, including both small and large companies, as well as high growth and mature companies within domestic, regional, and global markets. Mr. Forden’s experience includes work with mergers, acquisitions, and turnarounds, and he has demonstrated leadership across competitive and changing marketplaces within healthcare. Mr. Forden has also worked for industry leaders such as Johnson & Johnson, Zimmer, and ConvaTec, and he has successfully led global, regional, start-up, and multi-cultural teams of professionals. He possesses strong financial and analytical skills obtained through various experiences gained in general management, global /regional marketing roles, and divesture/acquisition of corporate entities. He lived in Tokyo for eight years, where he held the positions of VP, Asia Pacific and General Manager for ConvaTec Japan, VP of UCB Pharma Japan, and VP of Zimmer Holdings. He has engaged in extensive involvement with surgeons and clinicians in product development and clinical support.

Shirley Gauf

Shirley Gauf

Shirley Gauf is a market research and marketing professional with both supplier and client side experience across a number of industries. She also possesses deep domain knowledge of the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Her strong qualitative and quantitative research skills combine with a deep understanding of clients’ strategic needs. Ms. Gauf previously worked with Taylor Nelson Sofres, a leading market research firm, and held management positions with Abbott and Eli Lilly. Well versed with doctors and patients, she possesses solid project management skills. Ms. Gauf brings experience in research design, execution, analysis, and reporting to any project. In addition, she brings a familiarity with a variety of disease/therapeutic areas to her healthcare projects. These areas include diabetes, oncology, women’s health, men’s health, osteoporosis, and mental health. Her strong analytical, communication, and problem solving skills allow her to enrich and forward any project of which she is a part. At Abbott and Eli Lilly, she engaged in a structured range of market analysis and planning projects, led co-marketing efforts with other divisions and external parties, developed prelaunch/launch strategies and marketing plans for new product introductions, and provided project management support. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Fudan University and an MBA from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).

Peter Ham

Peter Ham

Peter Ham is an executive with more than 25 years of diversified financial experience in the United States, Europe, and Japan. His experience includes working with both the capital markets and the wealth management divisions of JP Morgan, Boston Company, Merrill Lynch, and UBS. Mr. Ham also has more than 20 years of experience working on equity based financing and monetization strategies for successful entrepreneurs and majority-owned businesses, including working on customized strategies to diversify large block single stock positions. More recently, he has completed strategy consulting and business development projects across a range of industries, including life sciences, apparel manufacturing, and documentation management services. He possesses extensive technical knowledge regarding document management. This knowledge includes familiarity with specific requirements of the legal, pharma, and financial services industries and applications for ESI processing, digital forensics, electronic discovery, and managed review. He holds a BA from Dartmouth College and is a graduate of the JP Morgan Commercial Bank Management Program.

Edward Hynes

Edward Hynes

Edward Hynes is a senior executive who has provided strategy and execution services at three venture-backed start-ups, two mid-stage growth companies, and a Fortune 20 enterprise. During his career, Mr. Hynes has accumulated international experience in multiple verticals including media, finance and technology. As COO of two venture-backed mobile technology start-ups, he has focused on the early stage capitalization of artificial intelligence, computer vision, machine learning, digital signal processing and video effects technology. He has built teams and crafted methodology tuned to the needs of nascent high tech commercialization, rapid product development and the realization of product-market fit. He has scaled companies from the ground up, managing organizational and financial imperatives, expanding operations, establishing & monitoring key KPI’s, and driving sustainable growth. Through later stages, he has leveraged a lifetime of business development, marketing, and sales experience to drive market capture and growth. Prior to his experience as a COO, Mr. Hynes ran a sales & consulting practice for a top-ten global IT integrator, managing teams on enterprise-wide initiatives in high performance computing, mobility, collaboration, content management, rights management, data security, business intelligence, logistics, manufacturing, and data capture & analytics. Mr. Hynes holds a BA in Chemistry from the University of Virginia.

Eric Kalabacos

Eric Kalabacos

Eric has more than 20 years of enterprise software consulting and professional services management experience. He has served as Vice President of Customer Success for Splice Machine, a platform for adaptive applications that manage operational processes, large-scale IoT infrastructures, and use analytical processing and machine learning to improve over time. Previously, Eric was Senior Director, Global Customer Services at Model N, a leading provider of revenue management solutions that can be deployed on-premise or in the cloud. Prior to Model N, Eric was one of the original employees at Blue Martini Software, a machine learning-driven digital marketing software vendor, where he served as Director, Professional Services and Analytic Services. Prior to that, he held executive roles at Lumin Corporation, Om Records and Colorscape Communications. In addition to his extensive professional services management experience, Eric brings deep industry knowledge in the Life Sciences, Healthcare, Financial Services, High Tech, Telecom, Retail and Digital Marketing sectors. Eric holds dual BAs in Music and Religious Studies from Naropa University.

Kelly McCrann

Kelly McCrann

Kelly McCrann is a senior healthcare executive with extensive experience in board governance, strategic leadership, P&L management, team formation and development, venture development, and M&A transactions. He was previously CEO of Advoserv, a behavioral healthcare provider specializing in services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and dual diagnoses. He also served as Chairman & CEO of Xcorporeal, a company developing two innovative devices for home hemodialysis patients. As Senior Vice President of DaVita Inc., the nation’s second largest dialysis provider, Mr. McCrann was responsible for all alternative modalities, representing approximately $650 million in revenues. As President and CEO of PacifiCare Dental and Vision, he was responsible for all strategic and operating aspects of PacifiCare’s dental and vision product lines, which had $185 million in revenue. Other positions include serving as Operating Partner for Bessemer Venture Partners and as President of the Lithotripsy Division for Coram Healthcare Corp., in addition to working for McKinsey & Co. Mr. McCrann holds an MBA from Harvard and a BA from UCLA.

Steven Neau, Ph.D.

Steven Neau, Ph.D.

Steve Neau is an experienced pharmaceutical formulation and drug development professional. Dr. Neau is Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Director of Industrial Pharmacy at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. He leads the Physical Pharmacy and Formulation Development areas, which have explored pharmaceutical applications of polymeric materials in the analysis and delivery of drugs. He has led research efforts that have resulted in 46 journal articles and book chapters, as well as 63 presentations at national and international scientific conferences. His research interests include formulation development, polymer use in formulations, physical chemistry applications in pharmacy, and the use of enzymes in prodrug synthesis. Students involved in these research projects have earned B.S., Pharm.D., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees and now hold positions in academia and in the medical and pharmaceutical industries. He holds an MS and a Ph.D from the University of Michigan and a BS and BA from Eastern Michigan University.

Bac Palomo

Bac Palomo is an accomplished global business executive with more than 20 years of healthcare industry experience. Over the course of his career, he has served as CFO of EVP-Strategic Channel Development for Intelligent Medical Objects, as CFO of the Health Division for Wolters Kluwer, and as Chief Operating Officer of Clinical Services for GE Healthcare. Mr. Palomo has also held management positions with Bank of America and Procter & Gamble. Collectively, these positions have provided him with experience in consumer health, pharmaceutical, new business development, medical devices, hospital operations, clinical content, healthcare data/information analytics, and decision support. His experiences in global COO and CFO positions include executing domestic and international startup operations, organic and inorganic (M&A) strategies, and business turnaround operations. His extensive finance experience includes managing international treasury operations with P&G and leading finance teams responsible for delivering both IFRS and GAAP compliant financial statements. As WK Health’s CFO, he was the key finance architect who engineered the financial due diligence and strategic fit analysis of the Up-to-Date acquisition, which reignited WKH’s growth and became the key asset in its Clinical Solutions growth strategy. He received an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a BS in Economics, and served nine years as a naval aviator, amassing more than 2000 flight hours.

She has an exceptional track record of developing strategies that unlock the greatest value for a company’s marketing investment. She helps clients solve business challenges through data-driven marketing strategies that incorporate best practices and tools that will uncover key revenue opportunities along all points of the customer journey. Helping companies make customer engagement a strategic priority helps them optimize revenue and stand apart from their competitors. She has significant experience improving customer engagement and loyalty, creating value-based relationships and partnerships, developing marketing strategies to mitigate negative business performance, and improving employee engagement. During her career, she has served as the Executive Director of Gaming Marketing for Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, where she developed and implemented a customer loyalty program with an integrated marketing plan that optimized revenue, visitation, loyalty, brand, and group sales. Earlier in her career, she held marketing and communications positions with apparel and tourism organizations. She has studied at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, Schulich School of Business, and Ryerson University.

Roger Stier, Ph.D

Roger Stier, Ph.D

Roger Stier is an experienced flavor chemist who has developed a wide range of taste masking applications, including those for difficult active ingredients. He has more than 40 years of experience in areas ranging from research to product development to formulation scale to production. He holds more than 20 patents in the field both domestically and internationally and has published 4 articles in trade journals. During his career, he has held positions with Firmenich and Noville, where he managed laboratory operations, developed taste masking systems, and improved the palatability of ethical pharmaceuticals and consumer products for leading companies, including GSK. While at Firmenich, he developed the use of dissolvable films, accelerating production process and increasing output by 43 percent. He holds a BS and a Ph.D in Chemistry; Biology from Stafford University.

Jim Wermert

Jim Wermert

Currently a full time university senior lecturer on strategy and international management, Jim Wermert is also a seasoned executive with over forty years of experience. During his career, he has been a strategic planning consultant with experience in the health care, apparel, textiles, home furnishings and retail industries. Subsequent to his consulting career, he founded two new concept health industry companies, and worked closely with the founders of several others. His work has taken him to all 50 states and 35 countries. Mr. Wermert has been a consulting Partner with APM (acquired by Computer Sciences Corporation), a founder of Health Spring, Inc. (acquired by United Healthcare), CEO and founder of Health Plan Management Services, Inc. (a subsidiary of John Hancock Financial Services later acquired in parts by ADP and Marsh and McLennan), a Regional Vice President of American Medical International (now Tenet), and a Principal with Kurt Salmon Associates. Prior to that he served as a Captain in the US Army Medical Service Corps. In addition to his full time university teaching, Mr. Wermert provides business development, strategy/planning consulting, and organizational design and development services to a number of companies.

Maureen Westerman

Maureen Westerman is an experienced recruitment and talent management leader for clients in retail, consumer, pharmaceutical, and tech industries. Ms. Westerman’s career combines an extensive background in global corporate recruiting with executive search and talent management consulting experience. She has led global enterprise human resources programs and technology implementations and has also participated in the design and implementation of organizational changes to streamline operations and improve efficiencies. She has led corporate recruiting teams and, earlier in her career, was an in-house executive search and talent management consultant for GAP Inc., one of the largest global specialty retailers. She holds a BS from the University of Delaware.
